If the government of Canada is taking the test and providing the book for free, why practicing for the test should not be free? We make it free for you. (read the story)

The Story:

My brother and I built this website for anyone who is going to take the Canadian citizenship test, free of any charge.

I am a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering and my brother has an MSc degree in Civil Engineering. A few years ago, I had to take the Canadian citizenship test. When I searched for Canadian citizenship practice tests, I saw:

  1. Most websites ask for money
  2. Super slow websites cluttered with lots of advertisements that I could barely see the question itself to answer it (and even some of them were asking for money)
  3. Websites missed the features that I needed for my practice, such as a timeline of events in the Discover Canada book. There was no website (that I could find by Google search, and I did search a lot) that had the name of all the people in the book and what they were known for (There are a lot of names in the Discover Canada, and it was hard to find where they were in the book, if I forgot them). Many of the websites even didn't have the option to save a question to review later!
  4. Websites that had low quality questions (the real test is definitely not that easy)
  5. Websites lacking enough practice tests or mock tests (or asking for money again!)
  6. Websites missing questions from some subchapters or pages of the book.
  7. Websites with so many unrelated paragraphs of text to just fill the space in order to rank better in search engines. I was there to practice, not to read long passages of unrelated text for the purpose of my visit.

These reasons, beside others, made me super frustrated at the time. Unfortunately, I could not do anything at that moment as I had my citizenship exam coming up very soon. I passed my Canadian citizenship test with 100% in the first try in under 10 minutes or so. without even reviewing my answers (I'm pretty sure many others did too, no bragging here).

However, at that point, I was determined to fix this problem for people who take the exam after me.

I talked to my brother after that, and he was super excited to address this issue. We worked for months to develop this website (sorry, if it is not perfect) for those immigrants who want to just practice for their Canadian citizenship test for free, while having access to all the features that other websites ask for money for them.

When developing this website, we:

  1. Created more than 1000 human-made (NO AI) questions and answers from every page, chapter, and subchapter of the Discover Canada book
  2. Created about 43 unique mock tests for the Canadian citizenship test
  3. Created chapter and subchapter practice tests
  4. Created a timeline of all the events in the book with the name of the people involved in that event. They are all ordered, so you can know what events happened before another event. This was important for myself personally, because there are so many events (and their dates) all over the book in jumbled order. It's easy to forget or mix them.
  5. Created a nameline (like timeline) where the name of all the people mentioned in the book, including what they are known for, their contribution and more, are gathered in one simple list. Again, this was very important for me, because there are a lot of names mentioned in the book for various reasons and contributions. I wished someone could just list them somewhere for quick review. At the time, there was no website having this (not sure there is now), and as I said, I did search a lot via Google and in Play Store (Android) apps.
  6. Added the ability to save the questions in order to review them later. They are also grouped by chapter, and their subchapter is mentioned in front of them, so you can easily find which sections of the book you need to review. We had more features, but we removed them. Sometimes simplicity is the key!
  7. Tried to be as concise and to the point as possible without cluttering the screen with unnecessary elements. We assumed you are here to practice for your citizenship test and that's your only goal, so, we tried to keep your screen clean of any extra text, and present to you only what you are looking for, i.e. questions, answers, practice tests, mock tests, timeline and nameline.
  8. Made this website completely free of any charge. There are no hidden fees anywhere on this website.

We hope that you successfully pass your Canadian citizenship test, and we wish you really enjoy using this website and find it useful for your practice. We are sorry in advance if there are any shortcomings.

My brother and I, although having our full-time jobs, are open to developing any features that you think this website is missing for you to better practice for the actual citizenship test. Feel free to send us any comments or problems you face on this website. Please use the contact email contact@your-canada.com to send us any request you may have. We will definitely read them and try to address them all.

If you enjoy using this website, please share it with our other soon-to-become Canadians.

Created with love,
